Japanese keyboard layout in windows - Microsoft Community.
The primary language has been set to UK English - Japanese keyboard - but the keyboard input actually follows the UK layout. For example, the character above the 2 on my keyboard is a quotation mark, but if I press it is printed on the screen.

You can set Japanese keyboard input as the default keyboard layout and see if it resolves the issue. If the keyboard layout changes for a particular language, you might have such issues on the computer. I did manage to resolve this issue by using "Override for default input method" in the advanced settings, but after restarting my computer it had reset to the UK layout while still being set as "Keyboard layout: Japanese" under language preferences. I would suggest you to remove English UK language and then re-add it. Then, set Japanese IME for this language. Follow the methods:. Actually, scratch that.
Having restarted my surface once the keyboard has reset to the UK layout, despite being set as Japanese. IME is not listed as an input option. I have tried method 2, and the system checker returned the message " Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations ".
